In January, lovers of film and industry insiders alike will make their way to Park City, Utah, and begin a ten-day journey into the stories and narratives of up-and-coming writers and directors. You’ll find tickets and other information about the festival here.

Park City’s snowy atmosphere makes theaters feel twice as cozy, while the restaurants, coffee shops, and distilleries act as natural stopping points strolling between film showings.

The Interim News Editor with the industry outlet, Primtimer, offered her best suggestions for visiting Park City. She provided her top spots for starting and ending a day while enjoying all Sundance offers.

Atticus Tea and Coffee Shop
A fair destination full of charm for the group divided into coffee and tea lovers. Rare teas, fast baristas, unique gifts, and a commitment to the mountain lifestyle are foundational to the experience at Atticus Tea and Coffee Shop. The shop is known as “Park City’s unofficial living room” by Historic Park City Alliance.

The kitchen serves food from 7 am to 2 pm. The menu is focused on breakfast, so this is the perfect spot for coffee and a bite of food to start the day. Two salad options could work for lunch if you made it there later in the day. The tea selection is dynamic and flavorful with fun names like “Starburst” and “Clockwork Orange.” There are teas for any point in the day, “Lights Out!” includes Valerian Root to calm you down, while the “Tumeric Tonic” speaks for itself with healing turmeric, ginger, and chai spices.

Davanza Pizza
A staple since 1979, Davanza does not offer reservations or online ordering. Waiting for a table isn’t for the faint of heart since it takes place outside, but it is rewarded with exceptional pizza, tacos, burgers, and their famous Philly Cheesesteak subs. The ordering style is fast-casual with first-come seating.

High West Distillery
Once filled up on pizza, it’s time for a nightcap with a whiskey distilled locally by a former biochemist, crafted with precision. The distillery was opened in 2006, and the tasting room and restaurant are next door to the historic Ellsworth J. Beggs House, built in 1914 and open for tours.

The property boasts a restaurant and tasting room; the restaurant is first come, first serve. The tasting room offers flavorful and explorative cocktails using the distillery's flagship whiskey. The High West Saloon menu ranges from small bites to a premium rib eye cooked to order. For the people who might not be able to attend Sundance in person but are enjoying it online, High West offers recipes for their hand-crafted cocktails online for all to enjoy.

Bundle Up
January in Park City sees a high of 35 degrees and a low of 18, so bundling up is necessary. Don’t forget to pack jackets, gloves, hats, and boots to make traversing between showings easier and more pleasant
