Job Summary

You are an experienced aviation professional with a passion for safety and making improvements to the way things are done.  You can predict when a situation might lead to degradation of safety standards and can make thoughtful improvements to processes and procedures to manage, mitigate, or prevent.  You can easily communicate “lessons learned” while implementing corrective actions to prevent future recurrences.

Desert Jet, a part 135 on-demand charter company, is seeking a Director of Safety to direct the company’s safety culture by identifying and managing safety risks specific to Desert Jet’s flight, maintenance, FBO and support operations.

Desert Jet is looking for a candidate with significant operational experience in a corporate/charter environment; preferably with experience in a safety role.

Responsibilities and Duties

The most successful candidates will have significant experience in the aviation industry in a role such as Chief Pilot, Director of Safety or Director of Operations.  The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of IS-BAO and IS-BAH protocols and Part 135 experience.  This is primarily an office position where you will be home every night, but there will be some travel involved to industry safety events and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience in Part 135 operations
  • Project management experience to include SMS and ASAP program
  • Managerial experience
  • FAA ATP certificate

       Preferred Qualifications include:

  • NBAA Certified Aviation Manager status
  • IS-BAO and/or IS-BAH auditor training
  • Bachelor’s degree with major or minor in aviation safety, management or other aviation-related field
